Making Good with Rick Easton
As mentioned previously, one of our favorite projects to work on is our web series, Making Good. And we want to use this blog as a means to introduce some of the people who will be featured in the collection. So with that in mind, meet Rick Easton.
Rick is such an epic character that we suspect no introduction is needed for many of you. If you’ve been anywhere within his geographical range, chances are you know exactly who this man is. If not, you need to meet him. These days, Rick is easiest to find creating his uniquely perfected expresso at John Sarah John. Or if you are lucky, you may get to experience one of his amazing meals provided through his company, Bread and Salt. There are few people who can entertain the mind and belly simultaneously as well as Rick. So do yourself a favor and pay him a visit; you will not be disappointed.
When we met Rick, he was working with his friend and business partner, Evrim Dogu, in their joint venture known as Sub Rosa Bread. Their collaborative style and attitudes were hugely inspirational for us. We went up to spend an evening with them as they prepared and baked their bread all through the night. Doing interviews around 3am after catching footage of them burning the midnight oil (or midnight wood, more literally) was exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. They worked hard and shared stories of their lives, hopes, passions and favorite meals (these things were not separate categories for them). We still think of this time as one of our favorite late night adventures with Squid and Beard. And we loved how honest and inspiring the time was. Rick provided us with great insight and energy that worked perfectly for a Making Good episode.
Times have changed and their stories continue on in new and exciting directions. But we promise you this, the Rick Easton that we were able to capture on camera continues to be the same riveting person who creates with an unyielding passion. We hope that you will keep an eye out for this episode of Making Good in the future. Even though these shorts are only just a snapshot of a much bigger picture, we feel confident that he will make you smile and inspire each of you to leave behind any fears that your old South Beach Diet may have created about eating bread.
Also, you can see a glimpse of Rick in our trailer below.
