Time-Lapse Illustration: Center for a New American Dream

Earlier this summer, our friend, Billy Hunt, connected us to a project that allowed us to explore some creative producing in an exciting new way for Squid and Beard. The Center for a New American Dream wanted a supplementary video for a lecture by Juliet Schor. Animated lectures and speeches were something that we have greatly enjoyed in the past; we’re always quick to pass videos around the office that we enjoy online and this style had certainly made it into the rotation. But the challenge arrived in creating a fresh take of this popular style that appropriately matched the tone of the lecture and allowed us to have our own voice on display.

So with some creative inginuity of utilizing our office space in a very D.I.Y. way (you may remember this from our Twitter post a while back) and illustrations from the talented Anthony Maughan (of Making Good fame), we went to work. Many hours, with thousands of pictures and a whole lot of rendering, later, we came up with a video that hit the mark just right. The style of the animation greatly compliments the concepts surrounding a plenitude economy. And plus, it’s just a fun thing to watch. Take a look and let us know what you think (view below or go directly to the Center for a New American Dream’s video page).
